Vietnam Engages Tether as Strategic Partner for Crypto Market Development
Vietnam has formally invited Tether to collaborate with domestic enterprises in shaping the country's emerging cryptocurrency sector. The government views the stablecoin issuer as a key partner in developing a secure, regulated digital asset ecosystem, particularly for remittance flows and capital management systems.
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc confirmed a five-year pilot program for cryptocurrency trading is already underway. The initiative will initially license five trading platforms meeting stringent capital and compliance requirements. Marco Dal Lago, Tether's Vice President of Global Expansion, described Vietnam's market as strategically promising, citing its young demographic and dynamic digital economy.
Tether has offered to share its expertise in regulatory frameworks and payment infrastructure development. The move comes as Vietnam seeks to transform its reputation from a crypto trading hotspot to a regulated digital asset hub in Southeast Asia.
